MNH recently featured in The Sun newspaper in Australia on 19th August 2017.
Two of our Australian facilities have been recognised for their high performing work teams winning MNH's Refurbisher of the Year Award. A team from disability enterprise, Bindi Enterprises, Lifestyle Solutions (Bindi) in Alice Springs. The team share the award with a team at Darwin Correctional Centre who has won MNH's Refurbisher of the Year for the second consecutive year. The Sun newspaper were reporting on these awards following our celebration of International Day of the World's Indigenous People's on 9th August.
Our Headset Refurbishing Programme provides supported employment opportunities at Bindi for people living with disability. The work creates structure, empowers people and enables a foundation for reform for the inmates at Darwin's facility. The skills gained by the workers assists their transition and contribution to mainstream societal living. The fact that their work contributes to a significant reduction in landfill provides them with an added motive for involvement.
The team’s work at these facilities involves sorting, testing, sanitising and packaging headsets to airline specification and is quality checked by vetted staff before being returned in pristine condition to the supply chain.
We offer our clients the choice of using our in-house teams but MNH actively promotes the support of these unique sectors. Working with these sectors network wide provides a consistent, high-quality output whilst teaching back-to-work skills and providing a sense of worth.
All our partner workforces are paid at least minimum wage; a proportion goes to the individual whilst the remainder goes towards the charity/prison running costs, which in turn reduces the burden on the tax payer.
Our work with disability enterprises has provided work for over 1,000 employees and 600+ rehabilitating offenders have also benefited from our programme.
